• Research directions. The Department of Theory and Methodology of Primary and Preschool Education focuses on current topics in pedagogical science. Considerable attention is paid to the development and implementation digital educational technologies in working with young children (for example, creating digital trainers and simulators to develop professional skills in future teachers)
• Participation in conferences. The department's teachers regularly publish scientific articles and present reports at Russian and international conferences, seminars and webinars. This allows them to professionally exchange experience with colleagues, present the results of their own research and take into account global trends in primary and preschool education. For example, the department takes part in annual pedagogical forums and webinars on early childhood development issues. In addition, the teachers organize their own scientific events - university and inter-university conferences.

• Publication activity. The department's teachers are the authors of a large number of scientific publications. Every year they prepare and publish articles on current issues in the pedagogy of primary and preschool education: these are studies on teaching methods, psychological and pedagogical support for children, development of creative abilities and other key topics. The materials are published in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings and electronic publications. Laboratory "Bashat"

The Faculty of Pedagogical Education has a unique space - Laboratory "Bashat", created by students and teachers of the Department of Theory and Methods of Teaching Primary and Preschool Education. "Bashat" — is a modern play and development center where faculty members can safely and usefully leave their children while studying or working.

Research works:
At the department, research work is an important part of the educational process. These works allow students to connect theoretical knowledge with practical research, forming the skills of research activities. The research work of students is aimed at solving current problems in the field of pedagogy, psychology and social pedagogy, which, in turn, is intended to improve work with children and the educational process.
The main goal of research work is to help students master the methods and methodology of independent research, develop skills in analyzing pedagogical and psychological situations. In their research, students study the psychological and pedagogical characteristics of children, their social and emotional development, gaining experience in presenting new proposals in the field of education.
In addition, as a result of research work, students form their scientific point of view, learn to analyze empirical data and systematically develop practical and theoretical materials. This process contributes to the future professional activities of students and helps to make a contribution to the scientific field.

Objectives for the development of the department’s research work:
The organization of the department's research work (RW) is based on the concept of developing the research activities of the teaching staff and is aimed at improving the quality of graduates at all levels of education. The results of research work and the knowledge obtained in the process of their implementation are used in the development of new courses and programs, as well as in the preparation of textbooks.
The faculty of the department conducts scientific research on the most pressing topics of modern education.

The educational practice of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology provides students with the opportunity to transform theoretical knowledge into practical experience. The main goal of the educational practice is to prepare students for pedagogical and psychological activities, to form their practical skills, to develop the ability to effectively and sustainably manage various situations in the educational process. Historical portrait of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology

Кафедра педагогики и психологии была основана в 1979 году в Фрунзенском педагогическом институте при факультете «Русский язык и литература». Её возглавил доктор педагогических наук, профессор, корреспондент-член Академии педагогических наук СССР и корреспондент-член Национальной академии наук Кыргызской Республики Мукаш Руставлетович Балтабаев (1979-1982 годы).

Later, the department was headed by candidates of pedagogical sciences, associate professors: Maria Abdykerimova, Mikhail Zhulenkov, Kashkar Dzhumabaev, as well as doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor Ryskeldi Toksonbaev. Currently, the department is headed by candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor Mira Alymbekovna Muratalieva.

The department employed prominent scientists, educators and psychologists of Kyrgyzstan, such as Professor, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences V.M. Grebennikov; Associate Professor, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences L.I. Kubatieva; Professor, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Z.V. Andreeva; Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor M.G. Zhulenkov; Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor I.R. Khalitova; Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor A.A. Mashkevich; Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor V.A. Nuzhniy; as well as experienced teachers K.T. Tulegenov, A.G. Tynystanova, T.Zh. Zhumagulov and others. In 2009, the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology began its professional educational, scientific, educational and career guidance activities under the auspices of the Faculty of Slavic Studies of the Belarusian State University named after K. Karasayev. Since 2021, the department has been operating on the basis of the Faculty of Pedagogical Education of the Bishkek State University named after K. Karasaev.

The Department of Pedagogy and Psychology includes prominent scientists, educators and psychologists of Kyrgyzstan. In 2009, the department carried out its professional training, scientific activities and career guidance work under the auspices of the Faculty of Slavic Studies of the Belarusian State University named after K. Karasaev.

The purpose of the department — development of scientifically based pedagogical and psychological methods in the process of education and upbringing, their application in practice, as well as training of qualified teachers and psychologists.

Research activities of the department:

Научная тема кафедры: В настоящее время сотрудники кафедры проводят исследование на тему «Педагогические компетенции XXI века: стратегии толерантного обучения и воспитания». Результаты научных исследований представляются на международных научно-практических конференциях, семинарах и тренингах. В этих мероприятиях активно участвуют как молодые исследователи Кыргызстана, так и зарубежные коллеги из Казахстана, Германии и России.

In the period from 2020 to 2024, the department's teachers published 87 articles in various scientific journals and collections of scientific and practical conferences, of which 30 works were published in scientific journals included in the RINS.

Department also trains postgraduate and master's students in the field of pedagogy: general pedagogy, history of pedagogy and education, and social pedagogy. Over the past three years, about 60 postgraduate students have completed their studies at the department, of which 20 defended their candidate dissertations.

At present, the department's partners are: Moscow State Linguistic University, Bashkir State University named after M. Akmulla, Zhezkazgan University named after O.A. Baikonurov, Institute for Advanced Training of Teachers in Moscow, and Kazakh State Pedagogical University for Girls in Almaty.
