The University attaches great importance to scientific research and innovation, which are regulated by a number of regulatory documents and policies, including the University's Strategic Development Plan, the laws of the Kyrgyz Republic, and the regulatory documents of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic and the National Attestation Commission (NAC) of the Kyrgyz Republic under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic. The university's scientific research is conducted in cooperation with other scientific and educational organizations both within the Kyrgyz Republic and abroad.
Participation in research is the responsibility not only of the university's teaching and research staff but also of its students. The research policy takes into account the potential emergence of new priority development areas and is aimed at involving students in the process of generating new knowledge, which contributes to the formation of their professional competencies, as well as independence, initiative, and creativity.
The research work of the University is carried out within the framework of the priority development areas of the Kyrgyz Republic: Economic Theory; Economics and Management of the National Economy; Finance, Money Circulation, and Credit; Accounting; Social Structure, Social Institutions, and Processes; Theory, Methodology, and History of Sociology; Kyrgyz Literature; Folklore Studies; Kyrgyz Language; Russian Language; Germanic Languages; Turkic Languages; Theory of Language; Comparative-Historical, Typological, and Contrastive Linguistics; General Pedagogy, History of Pedagogy and Education; Theory and Methods of Teaching and Upbringing; Social Psychology; Educational Psychology; Political Institutions, Ethnopolitical Conflictology, National and Political Processes and Technologies; Economic, Social, and Political Geography; and Geoecology. Research and development (R&D) in these priority areas is funded by the republican budget, and is also carried out within the framework of internal university grant funding, applied and exploratory research programs under the thematic plan commissioned by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as international grants and programs.
